Our Credit Union lets people in the community come together to save and borrow money at low rates, and is operated on a not-for-profit basis, with surpluses being used to strengthen the Credit Union and a portion being returned directly to members.

Do I Qualify For Membership?

Castlecomer Credit Union is a democratic, financial co-operative which is owned and controlled by its members. The credit union is run only to benefit its members, all of whom have one thing in common - the Common Bond.

The common bond is the factor that unites every credit union member. The common bond for Castlecomer Credit Union is the Community Bond - where all members of Castlecomer Credit Union live or work within the parishes of:

  • Castlecomer
  • Coon
  • Clogh
  • Muckalee
  • including the Castlecomer and Clogh postal area

Opening an Account?

To become a member you will need to fill in a Membership Application Form by clicking here, and bring to the credit union office the following documents:

Photographic ID

Current Passport, Drivers Licence or Official Identity Card (Ex. Garda Age card)

Proof of address

Utility Bill, Bank Statement or Government letter, all must be within the past 3 months

PPS Number

Tax form, P60 or Payslip (Ex. Public Services Card)

Benefits of Membership

Flexible & Convenient Loans

Members can take out flexible loans 3 months after joining, and repay at tailor-made schedules. All our loans are fully insured (for free), against disability or death.

Attractive Dividend on Savings

Every year we pay an attractive dividend on members savings, which are also placed in our Life Insurance scheme, offering a free insurance system on your savings.

Quality Service, No Fees

You can be assured of a professional service from Credit Union at all times. And you do not pay a transaction fee for saving with us, or borrowing money.

Online / Mobile Banking

Register for online access and control your account, view balances, transactions, or arrange to pay your Bills, Credit Union loan, utility bills, etc.

Pay by Standing Order

Arrange a standing order payment from your bank and be sure of regular payments to your Credit Union account. Payments can be split between different accounts (to spouses/ children etc) or between your loan and share accounts just be sure to let us know what way you want your payment split to go.

  • I accept and understand that the balance in the above numbered account in my name will be refunded to me by Castlecomer Credit Union Ltd in the event of my membership application being disapproved.
  • The information given by me on this form is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
  • I understand that any false or misleading information given by me in connection with my application for or my membership with the Credit Union may result in termination of my membership, apart from any other legal sanctions that may apply.

  • to you seeking information concerning applications for loans and my credit history from the date of my original consent from any Credit Union and for that purpose you may disclose any relevant information in any loan application which I may make to you or which you may have concerning me to any Credit Union;
  • to any Credit Union disclosing information to you concerning applications for loans and my credit history from the date of my original consent with any such Credit Union;
  • to you disclosing of any information in any application (including loan applications) or in respect of any account or transaction of mine with the Credit Union from the date of my original consent to officers or employees of the Irish League of Credit Unions for the purpose of fulfilling our requirements and under the Savings Protection Scheme if such scheme is operated on behalf of the Credit Union by the Irish League of Credit Unions; and
  • to the processing of any information relating to me, either contained in this form or any other form or application, for the purpose of assessing applications and administering any accounts I maintain with the Credit Union.
  • in the processing of information in accordance with law, such as the Criminal Justice Acts, or the Credit Union Act, 1997.
