Our Common Bond

Castlecomer Credit Union was founded in February 1967 as a community-owned financial co-operative, established to serve the people of Castlecomer and its surrounding hinterland. From its earliest days, the credit union’s common bond has reflected the natural growth of the local community. Initially serving Castlecomer town, the common bond was extended in 1968 and again in the early 1970s to include those living or working in the parishes of Castlecomer and Clogh and the Castlecomer–Clogh postal area. Continued development saw a further expansion in 1978, when the parishes of Coon and Muckalee were formally added. Today, Castlecomer Credit Union proudly serves members who live or work within the parishes of Castlecomer, Clogh, Coon and Muckalee, remaining true to its founding principle of mutual support while evolving to meet the financial needs of its growing community.
